Creato and Loma Linda University Medical Center – Murrieta (LLUMC) have signed a formal agreement whereby Creato will provide performance improvement consulting services to LLUMC utilizing the Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. Six Sigma is a leading process improvement methodology used by world-class companies to achieve significant improvements in quality, service, productivity and customer satisfaction. It uses a variety of sophisticated statistical tools and skills, integrated with a standardized methodology, to measure, analyze, improve and control processes.
“We are delighted to include LLUMC among the growing number of organizations in the healthcare industry that are taking a positive step toward improved performance,” notes Ian R. Lazarus, Creato’s Principal and Founder. “This move will position Loma Linda to operate efficiently and in compliance with the demands of the Accountable Care Act. But most of all, it will result in greater patient safety and satisfaction.”
Under the terms of the agreement, CHC will perform projects at LLUMC while assisting staff to learn the new methodologies. According to separate studies by the American College of Healthcare Executive (ACHE) and the American Society for Quality (ASQ), about 46% of U.S. hospitals have used Six Sigma methods in some capacity. Leading healthcare institutions are finding it useful in overcoming challenges not satisfied by traditional quality improvement initiatives.
Creato recently evaluated the impact from Lean and Six Sigma initiatives including 10 clients, over 10 years and across 150 projects. The study demonstrated a return on investment of 7:1.
