Creato announced today the recipients of the Creato 4th Annual Educational Scholarship, established by the company in 2011 to support the advancement of healthcare professionals seeking to become certified in the Lean and Six Sigma methods. The scholarship is offered each year to two candidates as part of a national competition. The scholarship reflects Creato’s commitment to be a good corporate citizen while promoting methods that are critical to the improvement of healthcare delivery services.
This year, the field of applicants was so broad and of such quality, the company has elected to award four total scholarships: two for its online training in Lean, and two for online training in Six Sigma. The company will support and certify candidates that complete the training and submit documentation that demonstrates completion of a certification-eligible project. This includes presentation of a diploma, affidavit, and maintenance in the Company’s certification registry to validate the credentials of its graduates.
The winning candidates include:
Lean Training Scholarship Winners:
- Michele Gardner MBA, American Heart Association, Waukesha WI
- Michelle Elsinger-Schneider MBA, University of North Dakota Student Health Services, Grand Forks ND
Six Sigma Scholarship Winners:
- Sophie Mahindu MSHP MBA, HCA North Texas, Irving TX
- Jahangeer Khan, MPH, Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, Baton Rouge LA
“This was one of the more difficult competitions to manage due to the high volume and high quality of submissions,” recalls Ian R. Lazarus, Managing Partner at Creato. “We decided in the end to double our commitment to the program so we could extend the benefit to those most deserving.”
“We are excited to welcome these new candidates into the Creato Family,” adds Wendy Novicoff, Ph.D., an Associate Partner with Creato and also Associate Professor at The University of Virginia School of Medicine. “These are skills that every healthcare executive needs to navigate the challenges they face in the work and care environment.”
The application portal for the 5th Annual Scholarship Competition will be announced in the fall of 2015, with awards made after the new year. Interested candidates should monitor the Creato website and the Creato Lean Six Sigma & Quality Network on LinkedIn.
